Tension grips UP village after clash

Tension prevailed in Koop village of Rampur but situation was brought under control after a PAC platoon and police contingents were called in from three neighbouring police stations, Superintendent of Police Sadhna Goswami said.

One youth was killed on Wednesday in firing after a clash broke out between two communities over allegations that grazing animals belonging to one group had entered into the fields of the other.

Tension further escalated yesterday after body a person belonging to the group accused of killing the youth was found floating in the Ram Ganga river here, the SP said.

According to police sources, one person has been booked on charge of instigating people to fire at rivals causing death of the youth.

Police were waiting for the post mortem reports to proceed with the probe, added Goswami.
