Telangana, Justice Ganguly issues paralyze Lok Sabha proceedings

As soon as the House assembled for the day, members of Congress, YSR Congress and TDP displayed placards opposing creation of Telangana by bifurcating Andhra Pradesh. Samajwadi Party members trooped into Well demanding government action against repeated incursion into Indian territory by China. Speaker Meira Kumar then adjourned the House till noon.

When the House reassembled, similar scenes were witnessed with Trinamool Congress members, led by Sudip Bandopadhyay, coming into the Well demanding sacking of Justice Ganguly.

The retired Supreme Court judge is in the eye of a storm over accusations of harassment by an intern, an issue that has generated much heat with women's organisations and several political parties demanding his resignation.

Members from Seemandhra region belonging to Congress, TDP and YSR Congress were also in the Well shouting 'Save Democracy' and 'Don't divide Andhra Pradesh'.

YSR Congress leader Jaganmohan Reddy staged a dharna in the Well to protest against creation of a separate Telangana. He was carrying the copy of a newspaper which had carried news regarding introduction of Telangana Bill in the Andhra Pradesh assembly amid din.

BJD members, including Bhratruhari Mahtab and Tathagat Satpathy, were seen standing in support of the notices on no-confidence motion against the government moved by MPs from Andhra Pradesh, including those from Congress.

AIADMK members too kept standing to protest the attacks on Indian fishermen by Sri Lankan navy. As slogan-shouting continued, the Speaker directed laying of papers, during which Tribal Affairs Minister V Kishore Chandra Deo introduced the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Second Amendment) Bill. Kumar then adjourned the House for the day.

With just three days left for the Winter Session to conclude, Lok Sabha has not been able to transact any major business barring passage to the Supplementary Demands for Grants (General) and Demands for Grants (Railways) without discussion because of ruckus.
