Teen beaten to death over mobile

A 16-year- old boy was brutally tortured, beaten up and gagged to death in Ghaziabad by a group of people, including a woman, for allegedly stealing a mobile phone, said police. The police have arrested four accused,  including a couple, and manhunt has been launched to nab others.

The victim’s distraught mother Sunaina Jha told police that her son Sintu  was dragged from their house in Wasimpur, Phase-I, around 8.30 pm on Thursday. He was taken to the Arun Enclave house of one of the accused, Naeem, 45, who had alleged that the boy stole his phone.

He was then mercilessly beaten up, his hands and feet were tied with a rope and he was hanged from the ventilator of the bathroom, till he died, by nine men and women, said a senior police officer. A neighbour alerted the police about the murder. Sintu’s mother then rushed to Naeem’s house and found her son hanging. She identified the other abductors as Naeem’s wife Kousar, Shafeeque, Zahid, Shahbuddin, Ashima, Dillu, Sazid and Sachin.

‘We have arrested Naeem, Kausar, Zahid and Yogesh for murder. Raids are being carried out to nab other culprits,’ said Brij Mohan Yadav, Inspector, Loni police station.
