Team BJP: Party tries to show unity

As pre-poll election surveys are predicting increase in BJP’s number of seats in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections the central leadership is working hard to put an united face — ‘# Team BJP’. According to sources, the party has adopted a strategy to cut the present city BJP chief to size and convince warring leaders to come together to fight to oust the Congress from Delhi.

The sources in the party revealed that BJP chief Vijay Goel will no more be allowed to continue his ‘autocratic’ style of working and has been directed to give space to other leaders as well. In another recent development, according to sources, the Delhi in-charge of the party, Nitin Gadkari, ordered a freeze on an election campaign material — posters, banners, leaflets and handbills, which carried only Goel’s photos. Gadkari has told the city BJP that all election campaign material must have his prior approval.

The impact is also visible in the city BJP head office at Pandit Pant Marg where the backdrop of dais has been changed with ‘#Team BJP, Jeetenge Delhi, Jeetinge Bharat’ (We Will Win Delhi, Win India) from an earlier backdrop in which a huge picture of Goel was shown addressing a mammoth rally at Ram Lila Ground.

The impact of the directions were also seen in a press conference held on Friday, where former president Vijender Gupta, leader of Opposition in Delhi Vidhan Sabha VK Malhotra, senior party leader Vijay Jolly and general secretary Ramesh Bidhuri jointly addressed a press conference on the occasion of releasing ‘counter report’ on Sheila government’s achievements.
