Teacher sent to jail for blinding student

Ghaziabad: As the country observed Teachers’ Day, a schoolteacher was on Friday arrested for allegedly thrashing a Class 9 boy, blinding him in one eye. Acting on a complaint filed by the student’s father, police arrested the teacher of Shambhu Dayal Inter College at Virender Nagar here and sent him to jail.
He has been booked under Section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of the IPC, Kotwali Ghanta Ghar police station SHO Ummed Singh Yadav said. According to the complaint filed on August 28, the teacher slapped the student, Krishna, for not doing homework on August 21. Due to the impact, Krishna’s head hit the classroom wall, thereby injuring his one eye. During treatment, doctors said that he has lost vision in the eye. Police said they were further investigating the case.
