Teacher beats student, kin claim police apathy

A 12-year- old student of Class IV was brutally beaten by his teacher at a government school in Delhi on Tuesday. The victim, Master Radhey Shyam, is a student of government school in Shahbad Dairy was beaten up mercilessly by the accused, Sanjeev.
Victim’s father Prabhu Mehta said, ‘He was caught hold of by four students, at the instance of the said teacher, and they made him lie on a bench. Then Sanjeev (the teacher) gave him 35-40 blows with a baton.’
Mehta added, ‘The child was so aghast that he could not even scream. We immediately took him to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedhkar hospital, where he was admitted in the emergency and an MLC was recorded.’ The family claimed that the police has not taken any action and have not even registered a criminal case against the teacher.
‘I have made a written complaint to Advocate Ashok Agarwal, advisor to Social Jurist,’ he added. Amit Singla of Directorate of Education of Delhi said, ‘We will look into the matter and, if guilty, the accused will be punished.’
