The Department of Trade & Taxes carried out surprise checks in various parts of Delhi.
In the last one week, more than 100 dealers were issued notices under the provisions of the Delhi Value Added Tax Act, as they made sales without issuing retail invoices/bills to the customers.
The commissioner, VAT, has clarified that the department will continue its drive to check tax evasion and advised all the dealers in Delhi to issue invoices while making sales to avoid any adverse action against them. Effecting sales without issuing retail invoices is a criminal offence punishable and on conviction, imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, and a fine upto Rs 50,000 will be levied.
