Rajesh and Nupur Talwar on Friday moved the Supreme Court against the order of the Allahabad high Court, which had rejected their petition to summon 14 witnesses in the ongoing twin murder case of their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj.
This is the second time in this month that Talwars have approached the apex court for summoning 14 witnesses, including the then CBI joint director Arun Kumar to record their statements.
Their appeal was mentioned before a bench comprising justices B S Chauhan and Dipak Misra which posted the matter for hearing on 28 May .
Earlier, the apex court had taken strong exception to them approaching it directly and bypassing the High Court. The apex court bench had asked them to approach the High Court saying it was a wrong procedure to approach the Supreme Court directly.
After that they had approached the High Court, which said that the trial court had the right to decide which of the witnesses should be summoned and their statements recorded. The Ghaziabad trial court had dismissed their petition on 6 May and ordered recording of statements of the dentist couple, who are the main accused.
