Taj Mansingh lease extended for six months

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Thursday decided to give yet another extension of six months to India Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) to run Taj Mansingh hotel at older rates. This is the fourth extension given by the council to the TATA group-run company since its 33-year old lease expired on 10 October, 2011.
‘We have no option but to extend the lease as the guidance from Union Home ministry is still awaited’, said Jalaj Srivastava, chairperson of NDMC. The council while extending the lease for six months in October 2013 had written to home ministry to take the final call on the auctioning of the property, but the decision is still awaited.
