Navjot Singh Sidhu has been elected as the new cabinet minister during the recently held Punjab elections.

Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu could well be on the path to join the new Congress government in Punjab in an "important position", Congress party sources said here on Saturday.

Having won Punjab for his party on his 75th birthday, Congress leader Amarinder Singh said that the first priority of his government would be to eradicate drugs from the state.
