A bright sunny day gave way to a downpour in Dehradun and adjoining areas on Saturday even as swollen rivers across Uttarakhand continued to claim lives leaving three persons, including a girl, dead in separate incidents. Doonites awoke to a bright sunny morning as weather cleared up at most places across Uttarakhand but as the day wore on, heavy rains lashed the state capital and areas close to it.
Swirling waters of the rivers and canals swept away a girl and a youth in Tehri and Chamoli districts respectively, whereas a man was killed at Joshimath after being hit by a rock rolling down from a nearby hill on Friday, officials said.
