Till now, the cause of death for all the deaths in Delhi was not swine flu. Even though they had swine flu but along with it they also had severe co-morbid conditions, which led to their deaths,” said a health official.

According to a health official, the number of confirmed deaths due to swine flu (H1N1) stands at 10 in the capital till now. With an increase in cases of swine flu, doctors have advised to avoid coming in contact with the person suffering from the infection.

“Swine flu is contagious, and it spreads in the same way as the seasonal flu. When people who cough or sneeze, they spray tiny drops of the virus into the air. If one comes into contact with these drops or touch a surface (such as a doorknob or sink) that an infected person has recently touched, there are chances of getting infected by the flu,” said S P Byotra, senior physician and chairman, Department of Medicine at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
