Swine flu continues to spread, 23 new cases detected

Swine flu (H1N1) continues to spread in capital with 23 cases reported on Tuesday, taking the toll too 1,333 positive cases in city. An official from the Health Department of Delhi said that ‘Among these around 20 cases were self detected.’ He said, ‘The government is doing its best in providing treatment to people who are down with H1N1 virus in government hospitals.’ There is no further death has been reported due to the H1N1 Virus. This year, only 17 persons have succumbed to the disease so far.’ The Delhi government says the situation is not worrisome yet and the city’s hospitals have enough medicines and isolation wards ready. Government has designated 22 hospitals, including five private ones, for swine flu treatment. These hospitals have been directed to have isolation wards for extremely critical patients.

Doctors from the city hospital said that ‘Swine flu is treatable with Tamiflu medicines. Preventable vaccines are also available in the market but it is not advised to everyone as per the recent guidelines issued by health ministry.
