Swami Dayanand’s last rites today

Ashram’s trustee and Swami Dayanand’s close aide Swami Shantatmananda said the guru will be offered ‘Bhoosamadhi’ at a spot facing the Ganga within his Sheeshamjhadi ashram between 8 am and 10 am on Friday.
Swami Dayanand (86) was unwell for several months. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had paid visited his ailing guru on September 11. Swami Dayanand was brought back from Jollygrant Himalayan Hospital, where he underwent treatment for 10 days, on Wednesday night. He was suffering from <g data-gr-id="21">lever</g> problems.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat and Governor Krishna Kant Paul visited the ashram to pay their last respect to the spiritual guru.
Born on August 15, 1930, at a hamlet in Tiruchali (Tamil Nadu), Swami Dayanand lost his father at the age of eight. He started his career as a journalist with a spiritual magazine. He was inspired by Vedas and Upanishads and devoted his entire life to spirituality.
He reached Rishikesh in 1963 and lived almost a penury life. He was the founder of Dayanand Ashram established in <g data-gr-id="23">late 1960s</g>. He has written nearly 70 books mainly in Hindi and English.
