Swachh Bharat: Wall defacer gets rude shock

A private security guard in an inebriated state over did his social duty by holding a gun to the head of a man peeing in open. Ostensibly inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a Swachh Bharat (clean India), an armed personal security officer (PSO) of a Delhi businessman, pulled out his revolver when he saw someone relieving himself in a public place in New Delhi’s Connaught Place area late on last Wednesday night.

The incident took place at about 11 pm when Bhupesh Chaudhary (40), a resident of Janakpuri was returning home from Chandni Chowk with his friend Ajay Kumar. On the way, Chaudhary stopped at Tolstoy Marg near Jantar Mantar to attend a call of nature. Finding no public toilet in the area he started peeing on the wall. Chaudhary is a government employee. “In the meantime, two persons riding on a motorcycle stopped near him and abused him for peeing in the open. When Chaudhary continued to pee on the wall the accused, identified as Suresh Kumar threatened him by pulling out a revolver,” a police official privy to investigation told Millennium Post.

The passersby who witnessed the incident made a call to the police control room. By the time, the accused could flee from the spot, a police team immediately reached the crime scene and nabbed Suresh. He was taken to Connaught Place police station and the weapon used in the act was taken into possession. Suresh is a resident of Haryana.

During the investigation it was learnt that it was a licensed revolver that was owned by Suresh. Eight live cartridges were also recovered from his possession. “At the time of the incident, Suresh was returning home and was in highly inebriated state,” the official said.

He confessed that he got annoyed seeing a man relieve himself at a public place. According to the accused, initially he tried to stop Chaudhary but when he continued to do his business on the wall, he showed him the revolver.
