Swachh Bharat: NDMC to install smart bins at Connaught Place

Takinbg cue from the Swachh Bharat Mission, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) had initiated a scheme to make the Connaught Place (CP) – one of the most popular areas in the national Capital – clean, smart and liveable. 

In the first phase of the scheme, the NDMC will install 253 stainless steel smart dustbins at public plaza, radial roads and in front of public corridors in the area. Installing dustbins is most important for maintaining cleanliness in public areas due to heavy footfall. It is a big step towards smart city.

The dustbins have been designed in consultation with the Delhi Police, keeping in view the safety and security aspects. The NDMC will provide safai karamcharis with bags for collecting litter from the bins. The NDMC has decided to install such dustbins in another market area too.
