SUV rams into Noida Police post, injures cop

A drunken driver of a speeding Scorpio carrying five other passengers on Saturday night broke the police barricades at Noida expressway when patrolling cops signalled them to stop the car for checking.

The car then hit into the expressway police post and damaged it partially. Police said, sub-inspector Rajender Verma, who was posted on the duty of checking, got injured and was rushed to a private hospital. Meanwhile, two constables managed to nab two of them, however four others escaped.

According to the police, the incident took place at 10 pm on Saturday. Police said all occupants of the vehicle had consumed liquor and were going to attend a marriage party in Bhangel area under phase-II police station.

The arrested have been identified as Deepak (21) and Manish (23), residents of Shahpur village. Police have registered an FIR against six persons under charges of attempt to murder and drunken driving in phase-II police station. Noida Police have formed a team to arrest the absconding people and is investigating the incident.
