Suspected NSCN(K) militants open fire at Assam Rifles camp

Suspected NSCN(K) militants on Sunday opened fire at an Assam Rifles) camp in <g data-gr-id="11">Lazu</g> area of Tirap district in Arunachal Pradesh. This comes three days after the group ambushed an Army convoy, killing about 18 soldiers. A group of 35 NSCN (Khaplang) rebels attacked the camp along the Indo-Myanmar border at 2.30am, <g data-gr-id="12">Tirap</g> SP Ajit Kumar Singla said. However, no casualty was reported, he added. "The Assam Rifles personnel, who were on alert as they had received a prior intelligence report, retaliated. 

The militants managed to flee under cover of darkness," said Singla, adding that cross-firing from both the sides lasted for 10 minutes. Seventy empty cartridges of AK-47 and unexploded <g data-gr-id="9">bombs,</g> were recovered, he said.
