Supporting Delhi government’s odd-even formula, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Friday formed a committee to suggest ways for increasing frequency of local trains on Ring Railway in Delhi.
The move comes after Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai met Prabhu on the issue of increasing frequency of trains on Ring Railway to shift the passenger load towards the service ahead of even-odd scheme starting January 1.
“The Railway Minister has constituted a committee to increase frequency of local trains on Ring Railway. The minister also supported odd-even formula to bring down pollution level in Delhi,” a senior Delhi government official said.
The official said Ring Railway route spreads across a 35 km area of the national Capital and has 20 stations. “The Union Minister has assured the Delhi government to increase frequency of trains on Ring Railway so that people won’t have to face problems in using public transport during a 15-day trial of odd-even formula,” he said.
