Summer time sadness?

Every summer I diligently wonder why our forefathers ever chose Delhi to be the Capital. It is insanely hot, and getting increasingly humid over the years and the only good thing about the weather is winter. 

There isn’t  a cloud in sight and each day seems worse than the previous one. But then, enough cribbing! Here’s something better.

For starters, world environment day just went by. As part of their ‘Go Green’ initiative and keeping in tune with their corporate philosophy, Blossom Kochar designed special environment day cards with the message ‘Our philosophy does not just end at the natural way of life. In fact, it begins there. We hate chemicals. Whether it is your beauty product or your diet. We believe in natural living, and we want you to do the same. Plant these seeds anywhere, and enjoy a fresh, natural and chemical free diet. This is our step. Please take yours.’

The cards came with sachets containing different varieties of seeds including tomato, coriander, chilly and a little vial of an essential oil. 

The idea, I feel, is incredible. The cards were distributed at stores to all visitors whether they bought a product or not.  I, for one, cannot wait to plant my stash and watch it grow. That’s my bit for Mother Earth! 

And on another note, Father’s Day is next week and I hope that you guys have something nice planned for the most important man in your life (drop the bad Electra thoughts!). 

Since we all do tend to go over-board on Mother’s Day - it is only fair we do it for daddy dearest as well.

Loads of restaurants around the Capital have special meals planned for Father’s Day. Excuse Me Boss at Connaught Place allows you to get a discount equivalent to your father’s age if you go there for a meal with him (and family of course!) 

Then there is Fio Cookhouse and Country Kitchen at Epicuria and Garden of Five Senses that has a 10% off your bill and special deals on select food and drinks throughout 15 June (lunch and dinner) to celebrate Father’s Day. 

Pick a restaurant and head over. While a dinner out may not be a very big deal, make sure you have something nice planned to make your dad feel special. Have fun!
