Sugarcane crops in Shamli district of UP burnt by Haryana farmers

Sugarcane crops were allegedly burnt in Mawi village of Shamli district by a group of farmers from Haryana who are staking claim on the land, following which tension prevailed on the UP-Haryana border, police said on Monday.
“We have asked police to register a case against those who were responsible for burning the cops and damaging the property. Security has been tightened and police has been deployed on the border after the incident,” Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Kairana, Suresh K Mishra said.
