Student’s girlfriend interrogated

In the murder case of an engineering student in Punjabi Bagh, cops have discovered a love angle behind the crime. Police is now interrogating the family of girlfriend of the deceased. The student was found dead in Punjabi Bagh area of west Delhi on Sunday morning.
Dharmender, 22, a native of Rajasthan was beaten to death in Madipur of Punjabi Bagh. His body was discovered in a pool of blood by a passersby, who informed the police about the matter. His mobile phone and wallet were not missing, after which police ruled out the possibility of robbery.
According to a senior police officer, Dharmender was in love with a girl of Madipur area. In July last year, they eloped from their houses. The girl’s family members, however, did not lodge a complaint, said the officer.
Dharmender, who was residing at a rented accommodation near the girl’s house. He had come to Delhi in 2010, after telling his parents that he was going to prepare for entrance examinations. He was later selected at an engineering college in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.
‘We have questioned the girl’s parents and trying to ascertain the reason behind the murder,’ said V Renganathan, additional commissioner of police [West].
Police have also collected the call details of Dharmender from his mobile phone. Meanwhile, his body has been given to family members the postmortem.
In the preliminary autopsy report, it was found that Dharmender died after being beaten up with a heavy object on the head. He had injuries on other parts of his body as well.
YOUTH SHOT DEAD
A 23-year-old youth was shot dead in firing during ring ceremony party at a guest house in Najafgarh on Sunday night.
‘The deceased has been identified as Pankaj Kumar, and he suffered gunshot injury on his chest during engagement ceremony of his cousin Mohit,’ said a senior police officer. Police received the call around 10:30 pm that a man was shot at in the party. A police party reached the spot and rushed Pankaj to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
According to police, Pankaj, a resident of Najfgarh Dharmpura, had come to attend the ceremony in Gagan Garden. Some youths were dancing on the floor and then somebody opened fire, which hit Pankaj on the chest, said the officer. He ran a shop in the area. ‘We have registered a case at Baba Hardas Nagar police station and started the investigation,’ said the officer. Police is ascertaining whether it was an accident or somebody opened fire at him deliberately. The body has been sent to for post-mortem. A case of murder has been registered and police has questioning his friends.
