St.Stephen’s first cut-off list sees marginal rise from 2012

There is some good news for those seeking admission to Delhi University this year. The cut-off list released by St. Stephen’s College shows a near negligible increase of 0.25 per cent for the admission to its prestigious Bachelor of Economics (Honours). The college announced its cut-off list for admissions under the four year undergraduate programme (FYUP) on Thursday evening.

KM Mathew, tutor for admissions at St. Stephen’s College said, ‘To make the students entry less complex in our college we have made only a marginal increase in the cut-off marks for most subjects.’
The cut-off for Commerce students applying for Bachelor of Economics (Honours) saw a marginal increase of 0.25 per cent. Under the additional eligibility criteria (AEC) students must have secured at least 85 per cent in Maths out of the best four subjects. For the students of Humanities, the cut-off has actually gone down by 0.70 per cent. The figure stood at 96.05 in comparison to last year’s 96.75 per cent in Economics.

However, for studying Mathematics (Honours) at St. Stephen’s has become a bit harder for students of the Humanities stream with a 3 per cent increase in the cut-off. The cut-off this year was 94.5 per cent, while it was 91.04 per cent last year with best four subjects to make it to the interview.
Applicants of the Commerce stream though had it a bit easier as there is only 0.05 per cent hike in the cut-off for Mathematics (Honours).

The cut-off this year was 96.5 per cent. For those from the Science stream, the cut-off of Mathematics (Honours) stood at 97 per cent with 0.75 per cent rise.
The cut-off percentage for Commerce candidates applying for History (Honours) has risen by 1 percentage point. The required marks were declared at 97 per cent this year.

‘The admission process of St. Stephen’s College is different from the other colleges of the university. Interviews are scheduled to begin on 24 June and the interview schedules will be posted on the college website by website 22 June,’ Mathew said.
