Stephens’ boy among CAT toppers

The result of the Common Admission Test 2012 (CAT) examination, for admission to Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other B-schools, was declared on Wednesday.

According to sources, ‘10 students have got 100 percentile scores, of which one is Rahul Saran, who is an undergraduate B.Sc final year student of St Stephens’ College under the Delhi University, while others are from the engineering discipline.’

Eight of these students with perfect scores come from IITs and five of the 10 are yet to graduate. Four girls have scored 99.99 percentile, the highest score this year among girls. These four girls, all engineering students in their final year, are from Karnataka, Odisha, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. In all, 255 girls and 1,640 boys scored more than 99 percentile.

Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode, said: ‘We are glad that we started the trend of greater gender diversity in IIMs and trust that classroom learning will be enriching for those who join the IIMs.’

In terms of citywise performance, Mumbai has the highest 99 percentile scorers at 180 students followed by Delhi (168), Bangalore (157), Hyderabad (105), Kolkata (92) and Chennai (85).
