A 30-year-old state-level boxer along with his accomplice who had killed a man in Sangam Vihar two days ago over personal enmity was arrested by alert cops in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area on Friday. The main accused have been identified as Pradeep while his accomplice is Parveen (25).
According to the police, on May 6, when cops were carrying out checks on vehicles near Ganda Nala in Malviya Nagar area, they saw two motorcyclists without helmets. These two, Pradeep and Praveen, instead of stopping their motorcycle when the cops signalled them to stop, tried to flee but were somehow stopped.
When police checked them, they found one country-made pistol with four live cartridges and one desi katta with 2 live cartridges from the possession. Police said that during sustained interrogation,
Pradeep broke down and revealed that on May 5, he had shot one person named Jiwan Lal along with the help of Parveen in the Sangam Vihar area.
Pradeep ran a gym in Sangam Vihar. He often got into heated arguments with Lal as the latter often scolded him casually and passed snide comments. According to the police, furious over the incessant comments and uncalled for scoldings, Pradeep was further enraged when Lal passed bad remarks regarding the shuting down of Pradeep’s gym.
This led Pradeep to kill Lal. Joined by Parveen, they shot at him from close range and fled away. A
local made a PCR call after which police rushed Lal to Batra Hospital where he succumbed to injuries during treatment.
“The duo shot at Lal from close range who later succumbed to his injuries at the Batra hospital,” said a senior police officer of the South-east district. Police have registered a case against the duo accused at the Malviya Nagar police station under relevant sections of the Arms Act. Further investigation is underway.
