While the offices of central government in the region participated actively in the cleanliness drive, it was a low key affair in state government offices as the senior officials kept themselves away. Even the educational institutions, private colleges, NGOs and RWAs participated in the cleanliness drive.
The administrations of both districts organised the function only in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
The senior officials, however gave speeches on cleanliness but refused to participate in Swachh Bharat Mission, an official programme of Narendra Modi-led central government.
On the other hand, the employees of central government departments in the district actively answered to PM Modi’s call for cleanliness. They also appealed people to join hands and help them in cleaning the cities.
The Greater Noida unit of Surajpur, shipping department, NTPC and other central government officers came together to clean their locality.
Meanwhile, the elected representatives in the districts organised cleanliness drive at various places in their respective constituency along with scores of locals.
‘The centre is committed to clean the country, it is our duty to clean our locality. We have urged locals to come together to make this even successful,’ said Mahesh Sharma, MP of Gautambudh Nagar while participating in the drive.
