Starstruck: Cops play favourites between Shilpa Shetty, spouse

The Special Cell of Delhi police seems to be favouring Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty over husband and co-owner of the tainted Rajasthan Royals IPL team. 

Though Kundra has already been put through long hours of intense interrogation, Shetty has not even been called for questioning even once, though she has also been accused of betting.

Kundra on Thursday admitted to being involved in IPL betting.

He also confessed that he had been betting on the games for the past three years.

Shetty, had also allegedly once bet during season six of the IPL-6.

A highly-placed source in the Special Cell said, ‘Kundra had placed his bets in eight matches including betting for different teams. Shilpa had once placed a bet for Rs 1 lakh.  

Unfortunately, every time the couple lost money on the bets. This proves that they were not a part of spot-fixing. If they had been involved in spot-fixing, they would have made money on the bets.’

However, not calling Shilpa Shetty for questioning might dent the Special Cell’s credibility. 

A senior police official said, ‘Sidharth Trivedi, Rajasthan Royals bowler mentioned the name of Umesh Goenka, a close friend of Kundra’s. Goenka further revealed that Shilpa Shetty and Kundra were also involved in betting. Thus Kundra was called for questioning.’

When he was asked why Shetty had not been called for questioning, while Kundra has already been questioned for more than 10 hours, he said, ‘We wanted to question Kundra and there was no specific reason to call him. As far as Shipla Shetty is concerned, we don’t feel like questioning her.’
