There seems to be no end to the stand-off between Kathputli colony residents and the Delhi Development (DDA).
While the DDA has been directed to shift residents to the temporary camp in Anand Parbat at the earliest, residents now claim that there has been no notification from the DDA as of now.
The land in Anand Parbat, where residents will be shifted, has to be utilised by the DDA for public or semi-public use within two years. Therefore the DDA is ‘forced’ to go ahead with the transition process ‘at the earliest’.
‘As per the direction of the Court, this land has to be utilized within two years by DDA for public and semi public use. The DDA has no other alternative except to shift the residents at the earliest so that flats can be constructed within two years and the Kathputli residents are shifted back thereby vacating the land at Anand Parbat for use as per the landuse’, said the statement from DDA.
While the Lieutenant-Governor has directed the DDA officials to go ahead with the transition amicably, the residents are reluctant to shift.
