St Stephen’s may say no to centralised admission process

Despite the recommendation from the admission committee, Delhi University’s St Stephen’s College decided not to join centralised admission process of the University and on Wednesday announced its separate admission schedule for the 2016-17 sessions.

According to sources, St Stephens College is set to refuse the centralised admission process decided by the University. John Varghese is believed to have opposed the move during a discussion by the
24-member committee working on admission policy for the upcoming academic session.

John Varghese, principal, refused to comment on the issue of centralised online registration. All the details related to the admission process will be updated on the website,” he said.

DU, on Tuesday, had announced that minority colleges such as St Stephen’s and Jesus and Mary College will join the centralised admission process from the upcoming academic session rather than having separate registrations. Thereafter, they will follow their own admission policy for selection of students and announce their separate cut-offs.

But on Wednesday, the college announced its admission schedule and remained silent over the centralised undergraduate admission process as decided by the University.

According to the notified schedule of St Stephen’s College, the online application form will be available from May 28. The notice has no mention of the last date. However, the college has issued the tentative schedule for the aptitude test and interviews, which will start from June 20 and finish on July 9.

Jesus and Marry college administration has remained silent on whether it will join the centralised registration process of DU as decided by the university.
