SS Mantha not in favour of abolishing AICTE

While reacting on the suggestions of a panel, constituted during UPA regime, to abolish the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and University Grant Commission (UGC), the two top regulators of country’s higher education, AICTE chairman Prof SS Mantha said that he was not in favour of any merger of abolition of the two important regulators.
Mantha was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of AICTE conclave, which was also addressed by union HRD minister Smriti Irani on Friday.
While addressing the conclave, the HRD minister said that IITs are ranked fourth on a list of 50 best entrepreneurial undergraduate institutes in the world.
