Srinivasan can chair meeting: Shah
BCCI vice-president Niranjan Shah today said N Srinivasan could return as BCCI chief and chair the IPL Governing Council meeting on August 2 as the probe panel has found no evidence against his team Chennai Super Kings in the IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal.
‘He himself has stepped down and now as probe is already finished, given to the working committee already, Srinivasan can come any time he wants to. He can chair the meeting,’ Shah said when asked if Srinivasan can chair the GC meeting in the capital. The board’s working committee and the IPL governing council will meet to take a final call on the issue after the two-member panel, comprising former High Court judges T Jayaram Chouta and R Balasubramanian submitted its report to BCCI which met in Kolkata on Sunday.
Nothing will be swept under carpet: Dalmiya
Kolkata: Interim president of BCCI Jagmohan Dalmiya on Sunday promised will be no cover-up in the probe into the alleged conflict of interests issue over MS Dhoni holding stakes in a sports management firm that manages him and several other Indian cricketers. Dhoni found himself in the middle of a controversy when it came to light that he had 15 per cent stake in Rhiti Sports, which also manages Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja and Pragyan Ojha, apart from him.
‘I had said nothing will be swept under the carpet, even if it is Dhoni,’ Dalmiya said after the BCCI working committee meeting on Sunday. The skipper came under sharp attack from many former cricketers for his alleged conflict of interest for having stakes in the sports management company and being the captain of the national side at the same time.
Dalmiya also said the board had changed its ‘mode of working’ as far as keeping a check on players’ conflict of interests was concerned.
