Sri Lanka thrash miserable Pakistan in first T20

Chasing 133 runs to win Pakistan were bowled out for a paltry 95 runs as the Lankan bowlers ripped through the batting order. Pakistan lost successive wickets in the first two deliveries to blow off their chase. Nuthan Kulasakera dismissed both  Mohammed Hafeez and then Shakeel Ansar for nought.

The others soon chipped in as a hapless batting performance killed the match for Pakistan, Ahmed Shehzad top scored with 36 runs and Umar Akmal scored 12 and was the second highest scorer. The rest were out in single digits as Pakistan lost the match by 37 runs.

Earlier Pakistan pacer Sohail Tanvir produced a match figure of 3/12 as Pakistan restricted Sri Lanka to a mere 132/7 in 20 overs. Tanvir removed Sri Lanka's top three batsmen to reduce the hosts to 31/3. Mahela Jayawardene perished for 2 runs as Dilshan (5) and Sangakkara (19) followed suit to be victimised by Tanvir.

Soon wickets fell in regular intervals to dent Sri Lanka as they were reduced to 89/7 before a smashing innings from Perera who scored 32 unbeaten of just 16 deliveries with two fours and two sixes gave the Lankans something to bowl at. Lahiru Thirimanne was the other notable contributor with 30 runs.

Brief score:
Sri Lanka: 132/7, 20 overs (Perera 32*, Thirimanne 30, Tanveer 3/12, Ajmal 2/20)
Pakistan: 95/10, 17.5 overs (Shehzad 36, Akmal 12, Matthews 2/8, Malinga 2/12)
