Spurned, doctor stalks woman, sends hate notes

Looks like women should be cautious of even visiting a doctor! In a recent incident, a doctor has been allegedly harassing and threating a married woman after she visited the hospital for her son’s treatment. A case has been registered against the doctor who he is absconding.

In August, a 24-year-old married woman went to Rao Tula Ram Memorial hospital in Jaffarpur area of north Delhi. Neeta [name changed] has taken her son Ankit, 4, to the hospital as he was complaining of stomach ache for a long time. While Ankit was getting treated by a doctor, Neeta was waiting in the hospital premises. By that time, a doctor, named Krishan, has apparently approached her with an ‘indecent’ proposal. A shocked Neeta refused. Later, she informed about the incident to the other women present in the hospital. They suggested her to keep quite until her son was discharged.

Once home, Neeta narrated the incident to her husband, who runs a small travel agency in south-west Delhi. But he took the matter lightly.

On 22 August, the doctor came to Neeta’s residence in Najafgarh area of south-west district. Krishan has allegedly stolen the address from the hospital records where she had mentioned it during her son’s treatment. The doctor then allegedly asked her to leave her family and marry him, but she asked the doctor to get out of her house and informed her husband when he returned home.

In the night, the doctor had apparently dropped a hand written threat saying that ‘either she should marry him or else he will kill her’.

After that message, the victim’s husband lodged an FIR against the doctor in Najafgarh police station. Further, he approached the hospital and informed the senior authorities about the doctor’s behaviour. When the doctor got to know that complaints have been made in the police station as well as in his hospital, he resigned from his job.

Since then, the victim is getting handwritten threats. On Monday, the doctor had allegedly written a message on the door of the victim’s house, that reads ‘I will kill Neeta’.

A senior police official said, ‘We are investigating the matter and have carried out several raids at Krishan’s residence. His mobile phone is also switched off but we have kept his phone number on survillance. He is absconding but we will nab him soon.’

The official added that the police have taken all the copies of the threatening messages that the victim has been receiving in the last two months. ‘We are investigating the matter from all plausible angles and have coordinated with the writing experts as well,’ the official said.

However, Neeta has a diffrent story to tell: ‘Despite several complaints, the cops were initially not taking any action. Finally, we approached Vivek Gogia, Joint Commissioner of Police (south-west). He later gave us assurance that he will ask the senior officials to look into the matter seriously.’
