Shubhankar Sharma likely to miss cut in Switzerland

Crans Montana: Shubhankar Sharma endured another disappointing week as he is likely to miss the cut after being 1-over 71 in the second round when play was suspended due to thunderstorms at the Omega European Masters here.

Sharma seemed to have a chance to make the cut before he had a double bogey seven on Par-5 15th on Friday.

He had one hole left when play was suspended but at 1-over for 35 holes he was sure to miss the cut, which is likely to fall at 3-under.

It has been another rough week for the Indian, who has missed a string of cuts on the DP World Tour.

Alejandro Ca izares and Thriston Lawrence still share the lead after round two was disrupted due to thunderstorms.

The first round leaders teed off shortly after a three hour weather delay at Golf Club Crans-sur-Sierre, and they both managed to move to 13 under par before darkness brought proceedings to a halt.

South African Lawrence made six birdies and a single bogey in his first 14 holes, while Spain's Ca izares carded an eagle, five birdies and two bogeys after 13 holes.

Morning starters Nacho Elvira and Marcel Siem were the leaders in the clubhouse, three shots back further back.

Spaniard Elvira was in buoyant mood after recently welcoming a baby daughter, and he set the target at ten under par after posting six birdies and an eagle.

He was joined at the summit by Siem, with the German birdieing the last to match Elvira's back-to-back rounds of 65.

George Coetzee became the second player this week to make a hole-in-one on Friday after Aaron Cockerill achieved the feat a day earlier.

The South African holed his tee-shot at the short 13th using a six iron to win a new OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M, worth CHF 18,400.
