It was raining goals at Old Trafford on Sunday as Manchester United beat Newcastle United 4-1 in the Theatre of Dreams, coming back from a trailing score-line and making sure the charm that surrounds Manchester United never fades. Even before the match started, fans were cheering on for the players who were back on the line-up after being absent for months due to injuries. Among those players was one Paul Pogba who made all the difference for the home team.
It wasn't easy for the Manchester side to get a 4-1 victory over The Magpies but with the skill-set that Paul Pogba brings to the table along with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, just to name a few is what makes Manchester United more lethal than people give them credit for. United boss Jose Mourinho is a happy man this weekend and rightfully so.
Making his return after almost two months, thanks to a nasty hamstring injury, Paul Pogba had the hopes to make a substantial effect on the team's game play, and he did. After the defeats to Huddersfield Town and Chelsea, many doubted whether United's race to title was off to the right start.
Of course just two losses do not account for the entire season but it was a blow to the team's morale over all. The English giants now had a lot to prove despite their near perfect Champions' League run. The line up against Newcastle was one of the strongest we've seen with the defense upping their game and the midfield had the one player who was missed the most – Paul Pogba.
Pogba is someone you want to see up close; someone you want to appreciate because he deserves every bit of it. His role in the deep midfield makes him a pivotal player for the team he plays for. In the game against NUFC, he ran the midfield; he was the boss.
He moved with incredible finesse and intellect which made sure that his runs were well timed and did exactly what he aimed to do. In the beginning, NUFC looked like they were the potent ones as they gained an early lead thanks to the error made by Victor Lindelof – Dwight Gayle scored a goal past David De Gea. What an achievement that must have felt like. The point being, after trailing 0-1, Man Utd's first goal came from Anthony Martial and there won't be any prizes for guessing who assisted that goal – Paul Libile Pogba.
Throughout the game, Pogba moved with intent and purpose, using his creativity to gauge the danger that the opponent might pose. After United scored the first goal courtesy Anthony Martial, who also had a brilliant day at the office, there was no looking back for Manchester United. They were unstoppable with the goals coming in from all directions. Young talent Marcus Rashford set up the most marvelous goal for Pogba as he cushioned a header towards the French player and Pogba's perfectly timed run made sure he finished the goal off.
Paul Pogba has only started about five league games and in those, he has either assisted or scored a goal six times and in these competitive times, Paul Pogba's form will be one of the most vital things to the Manchester side.
