Speeding Audi kills 43-yr-old Armyman

A speeding red colour Audi A4 driven by a 43-year-old man killed an Armyman of the Assam regiment who was riding on a cycle in South-west Delhi’s Delhi Cantt area on Wednesday morning. The accused was arrested and within minutes released on bail.
The accident took place on Wednesday at around 10 am when N K Ram Swaroop Rajput (43) was riding on his cycle. In the meantime, a speeding Audi rammed into his cycle and as an impact he fell on the ground. He was rushed to the Army base hospital where he underwent treatment.
In the meantime, a call was made to the police and Sarabjeet Singh, a resident of Ashram area in South-east Delhi was arrested. At the time of the accident, he was accompanied by his elderly mother and they were going to attend a funeral in Hari Nagar. According to Sarabjeet, he was not over speeding but the cycle suddenly came in front of his car and he could not apply brakes.
At around 1.30 pm, Ram Swaroop succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, the vehicle was impounded by the police and Sarabjeet was arrested and later released on bail.
During interrogation it was learnt that Ram Swaroop Rajput, a resident of Madhya Pradesh had just returned to his unit after successful IS duties in the neighbouring state of Haryana where he was part of a force instrumental in restoring law and order in the riot affected areas of Panipat and Hissar. The deceased soldier left behind his wife and a two-year-old daughter.
