Special Cell sleuths arrest two gangsters wanted for murders, car-jackings in city

According to senior investigators, it is the same team which arrested six active members of Ravinder and Manjeet Gang. The same team was also working for the apprehension of wanted gangsters of Naveen Khati’s gang which resulted in the arrest of Rajesh Khotey and Neeraj Choti.

Police said that Neeraj and Rajesh, wanted in cases of murder and extortions, were also part of the murder of retired Delhi Police Head Constable Mehtab, who was Ravinder’s grandfather. They also shot dead father of Dinesh, member of Ravinder’s gang.

“To apprehend the said gangsters, both manual and technical surveillance was being maintained on their movements for the last three months. Police received a secret information that the duo would be going to Mitraun. A trap was laid and police tried to intercept the duo heading on a motorcycle,” said a senior police official.

“Armed sleuths of Special Cell managed to overpower Rajesh and finally apprehended both Rajesh and Neeraj,” said the official. According to the police, during interrogation, the duo revealed that to meet day-to-day expenses of such jail inmates and their family members and to pay fees of advocates appointed for them, a lot of money is required and the main agenda of the arrested accused was to extort money from some furniture and jewelry merchants of the area.
