Special Cell going easy on Shokeen?

Now, after a stolen AK-47 and a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) has been recovered from a plot, which maybe owned by Shokeen, in west Delhi’s Bawana area, Delhi Police have summoned Shokeen for the probe.

It is important to mention here that these recovered arms were stolen from the Baghpat policemen while helping Bhura to escape from police custody.

“The arms were hidden in a plot belonging to Neeraj Bawana (recently arrested), his family members or his relatives. It is being investigated to whom the property belongs to. As Rambeer Shokeen is a close relative of Bawana, his role in hiding these arms is under scanner. Shokeen has been summoned to join the probe, but he is still absconding,” a senior police official in Special Cell said.

Speaking to Millennium Post, JK Sahi, SSP Baghpat, said: “Yes. Shokeen could have been questioned in February soon after Delhi Police arrested all the accused who had helped Bhura in escaping from police custody. Though Shokeen is not the prime accused in the case but he was involved in the conspiracy.”

Another senior police official in Baghpat, requesting anonymity said: “It should be a matter of investigation as to why Delhi Police have delayed their probe in questioning or detaining Shokeen.”

He further added that when the accused who helped Bhura in freeing told Delhi Police that conspiracy was being planned at Shokeen’s office, why are the officials summoning him after Neeraj Bawana’s revelation. “Though stolen arms were recovered from a plot belonging to either Neeraj Bawana or his close relative, what is the reason of summoning him so late,” the official questioned.

In December last year, when Bhura was taken to Baghpat court for a hearing in a murder case, in the mid-way three persons intercepted the vehicle in which the accused along with two members of the same gang were also present. The three persons, who were in the SUV, fired bullets in the air while the two sitting inside the vehicles sprayed pepper powder in the eyes of the policemen with them. In the meantime, Bhura managed to escape.

However, Patiala police have managed to nab him last Saturday, while sources claimed that Bhura had surrendered in the fear of being killed in an encounter.

In February, Special Cell had arrested all the gang members, identified as Samarpal, Prince, Saddam, Ravi Kumar who helped Bhura in escaping. During interrogation, they revealed to the officials that in early December, the planning was hatched at the office of Shokeen. For the same, Bhaghpat police have summoned him, but to no avail.

Interestingly, after interrogating all the accused they were handed over to Baghpat police. Despite knowing the involvement of Shokeen (directly or indirect involvement), Special Cell had failed to question him.
