Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested a 60-year-old drug supplier, whom cops believed that he had died after his wife submitted a death certificate in the court in 2012. Now, he has been arrested with two kilograms fine quality heroin worth Rs 8 crore.
The accused has been identified as Islam Ansari, a resident of Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh. He is a key member of an interstate narcotic syndicate. One Pulsar bike and mobile handsets with SIM cards used in drug trafficking have been recovered from him.
According to police, during a trial of a drug-related case that took place in 2008, his present wife Salma Begum had moved an application before the court in the year 2012 stating that her husband had died in March 2012. She also submitted a death certificate issued by Municipal Committee of Meerut, UP.
Hence, the trial of this case was stopped and the case file was consigned to records after false verification of his death.
However, few months ago, the Special Cell team got a tip-off that Islam is alive and is active in the drug syndicate. It was learnt that he had prepared a death certificate of himself and got it submitted before the court.
On Saturday, a tip-off was received regarding delivery of a big consignment of heroin by Islam. On which, he was arrested with two kg heroin. Islam is involved in supplying drugs in Delhi-NCR.
