Special Cell arrests 4 dacoits who had abducted Ggn SHO

Sleuths of the Delhi Police Special Cell arrested four interstate criminals along with the kingpin, Islamuddin involved in the alleged robbery and kidnapping of a Gurgaon SHO. According to the police, the gang of Mewati dacoits have been involved in over 50 crimes like murder, kidnapping and dacoity. The other arrested dacoits were identified as Saleem, Surender, Mohammad Sabir, and the receiver of their stolen goods, Mohammad Irshad.

Involved in several cases, Islamuddin was carrying a reward of Rs 1.70 lakh from various states. He disclosed that he used to travel in flights before and after committing crimes in any state. He stayed in five-star hotels and moved in luxury cars with his girlfriends.

Investigators said that on June 30, the gang had abducted the SHO of Gurgaon’s DLF Sector-29 police station in his Maruti Swift car even as he was in police uniform. The robbers bundled the SHO in his car, beat him up mercilessly and robbed him of his cash, ATM card and the car. They drove him to Mathura and dumped him. The robbers also withdrew cash using the SHO’s ATM card the password of which they already had forced him to share, said police. The cops said based on a tip-off that the gang and its kingpin will be coming near Nangloi Metro station, a trap was laid to apprehend them. 

After a brief shootout between the cops and the gang, all the gang members along with Islamuddin were apprehended. Senior officers of the Special Cell said that the gang has more than 15 members, always armed with lethal weapons, and they frequently commit crimes in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. “During sustained interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to rob trucks carrying copper wires and supplied them to various scrap dealers namely Suntan, Irshad and his brother Irfan. Irshad was arrested on Tuesday near Akshardham temple and a robbed Verna car was recovered. Efforts were on to nab other absconding gang members,” said a cop.
