SP supported govt will give free food to poor, says Mulayam

‘The poor will be given food grains free of cost against Re 1 or Rs 2 being charged by the UPA-II government under its Food Security Act,’ Yadav announced.

Addressing a ‘Desh Bachao, Desh Banao’ rally in his Mainpuri parliamentary constituency Yadav said that the present miseries of the people would only end if a Third Front government supported by the Samajwadi Party comes to power at the Centre after the Lok Sabha elections.

‘The regional parties in different states would certainly win seats while SP will sweep UP,’ he said.
The statement of Yadav could irk the Congress which had already announced to gherao the SP government on 21 November in Lucknow for not implementing the Food Security Act in the state.

The UP government had announced that the Act would be implemented only after the Lok Sabha elections as Congress is trying to take political mileage by raking up the issue before the elections.
Yadav alleged that Congress had given poverty and misery to the people of the country during its regime while the previous BSP government in UP was involved in a scam of Rs 25,000 crore.

Reiterating his claim that Muslims and farmers are the backbone of the country and they are the main tools for development, Yadav said that there is a conspiracy to create confusion among the Muslims about the UP government after the Muzaffarnagar riots.

‘There is a conspiracy behind the Muzaffarnagar riots to create differences between the Muslim and Hindu brothers but the state government has crushed the heads of the communal organisations involved in this evil design,’ he said.

Hitting out at BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi, the SP supremo said Modi is a leader of Gujarat where there is just 26 Lok Sabha seats while SP is the party of 80 Lok Sabha seats. ‘Modi can be seen only on TV and in Gujarat and he has no impact anywhere in the country,’ he further  claimed.
