SP leader’s brother injured in Timarpur firing

On late Sunday evening, two persons including the brother of Samajwadi Party leader was injured after an exchange of fire between two groups in north Delhi’s Timarpur area.
The victims have been identified as Pramod Yadav (30) and Rahul (28) . Pramod is the brother of Noida SP leader Rakesh Yadav. The incident took place at around 7.30 pm, when Yadav along with his four friends were returning from Jagatpuri area. They told police that when they reached Hanuman Mandir in Timarpur, another car intercepted them.
As many as 12 persons got down from the car and opened fire on them. In retaliation to the open firing, all the five occupants identified as Yadav, Rahul, Mukesh, Satveer and Rakesh also cross fired on them.
‘Yadav and Rahul were shot at waist and other three associates were beaten up by the accused,’ the official said.
He further added that the accused had robbed them off their car, cash and mobile phones. Further, they managed to escape. When the police was informed, they rushed the injured persons to the hospital . Two of them are stated to be critical.
During investigation, it appeared that the assailants were known to the victims and they had a dispute over money transactions related to sand mining in the area. The police learnt that Pramod Yadav is a contractor of sand mining and had a dispute with Pramod Naagar, one of the accused.
One of the accused identified as Naveen Naagar, brother of Pramod Naagar, has been arrested.
