South schools to impart health training

South Delhi Municipal Corporation [SDMC], in collaboration with private hospitals and NGOs, has decided to launch a health awareness programme. In these programmes, teachers of SDMC primary schools and students will be trained in hygiene, first aid and adolescence-related problems.

‘A training programme for 300 teachers in the Perfect Health Mela will be held. A series of health educational activities will be organised for students,’ said Satish Upadhayay, Chairman of Education Committee of SDMC.

‘Our aim is to train every teacher and student of the SDMC primary schools, who would be our messengers in the city, to control spread of diseases due to contaminated water and food, and also vector-borne such as dengue and malaria,’ added Upadhayay.

Giving details about health and hygiene, president of ‘Heart Care Foundation of India’, KK Aggarwal, said, ‘The main objective of this programme is to focus mainly on jaundice, typhoid and diarrhoea. Primary teachers can learn tips for hygiene and adopt them at home and schools.’
