‘The initiative was taken up to bring more transparency and to address the grievances of farmhouse owners, who often complain of non-cooperation and harassment by the officers of the corporation.
‘All the applications related to rugularisation will also be accepted through online mode . The applicants can also send their grievances on — [email protected],’ said Mukesh Yadav, spokesperson of SDMC.
The newly-launched helpdesk will work under the buildings department of SDMC and all the grievances related to farmhouse regularisation will be handled by the same department, he added.
The corporation has also extended the last date for submission of applications for farmhouse registration to 31 March, 2015.
The last date have been extended on the directions of union ministry of urban development owing to several representations submitted by farmhouse owners to the DDA and civic bodies. However, Delhi Development Authority has not relaxed the rules for regularisation. It is important to mention that after approval from DDA, the municipal corporations launched the scheme to regularise unauthorised farmhouses but it received a grim response.
According to an estimate there are over 2,500 farm houses in the area of SDMC. But so far only 45 farmhouses have been regularised. According to sources in civic corporation, the lukewarm response was mainly due to two reasons. First, the cut-off date was set at 7 February, 2007, but many constructions have been done after that.
Therefore, the farmhouse owners demanded registration on ‘as is where is basis’. The second reason was high rate of conversion cost. As much as Rs 63 lakh per hectare is charged by civic body to register a farmhouse.
