South Delhi Municipal Corporation (South DMC) has decided to digitalise the maps and records of all the civic properties to prevent encroachments. These maps would also be available on the website of the corporation so that anybody can view and download them by depositing the required fees. 'We have only one copy of original maps and related records in our Immovable Property (IP) register.
These soft copies will help preserve the old original records and also help in handling cases of encroachments,' said Rajesh Gehlot, chairman of the Standing Committee, South DMC.
Presently, the records and boundary maps of land and properties owned by the municipal corporation are stored in the IP register which has become too old and fragile to handle.
