South Delhi gang rape: Two accused arrested, one absconding

Two days after the gang rape of a Class IX student in a parked car in south Delhi, the police has arrested two accused while the third accused is still absconding. The duo has confessed to their involvement in the crime.
The accused have been identified as Rohit, Narender and Harendra alias Tinku. All three are in their early twenties.
On Tuesday at around 8 pm, the trio allegedly picked up the minor from east Delhi’s Krishna Nagar area on the pretext of a drive. Midway, Rohit stopped his Verna car to buy liquor after which they consumed in the car.
As the girl had reportedly refused to consume alcohol, they arranged a soft drink for her but it was laced with sedatives. The victim fell unconscious after having the soft drink.
The trio then parked the car at Dussehra Ground near Sarojini Nagar area in south Delhi where they raped the girl one by one.
Before the girl regained consciousness, at around 10 pm they dropped her on a street near her residence in Krishna Nagar. ‘Before reaching home, the girl made a call to a friend, who has been identified as Karan. The friend then informed the police around 12 pm. After making a PCR call and informing them about the incident and the residential address of the victim, he switched off his phone. Few minutes later, a team managed to reach the residence of the victim and found that the girl was being scolded and physically harassed by her parents,’ a police official said.
She then narrated the incident to the police and was taken for medical examination that confirmed rape. Detailed information about the accused was given by
the girl as they were known to her.
On the basis of her information, several raids were carried out to nab the culprits. On Thursday morning, two accused - Rohit and Narender were apprehended while Tinku remained absconding.
‘Rohit and Tinku are married while Narender is pursuing law studies from a private institute in Delhi.
Narender and Tinku are cousins. Initially, the victim girl came in contact with Rohit who befriended her and introduced her to Narender and Tinku. All four of them used to hang out together,’ the official added.
