South civic body to spend Rs 51 lakh on awards for employees

South DMC has declared Rs 51 lakh award for its employees who achieved over 20 per cent of their annual target in property tax. This is the first time in the history of municipal corporation when employees are being awarded for performance.
‘Such targets were never achieved in last 10 years. So we are awarding a month’s salary to performers,’ said B N Singh, Assessor and Collector of South DMC. ‘Further, all the employees of the property tax department of zones and headquarters, which have collected over 20 per cent of the annual target, would be awarded. As the tax collection is team work entire team will be awarded,’ said Singh.
According to him, the corporation may cross Rs 600 crore by the end of the financial year.
