Soon, voters can locate polling stations on their mobile phones

The voters in Delhi will soon able to locate their polling stations on their mobile phones with the help of Google map. Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi is using GIS technology for further improvement in “access to ease” for voters to locate their respective polling stations.

“To ensure wider inclusion of all sections of society, special attention is being given to the inclusion of youth citizens as well as women citizens in the electoral rolls. Special camps are being organised in schools, colleges and polytechnics,” said Chandra Bhushan Kumar, CEO of Delhi.

He also announced to update electoral roll of the national Capital under the direction of Election Commission of India (ECI) by using Information Technology applications like removing multiple entries, bogus names, dead and shifted persons.

“No voter to be left behind” is the motto of ECI for year 2016, informed Kumar. He further informed that the twin objectives of NERP 2016 are improving the health of electoral rolls and standardisation of polling stations.
