Soon, syllabus on yoga and its benefits in Delhi govt-run schools

As the nation celebrates the International Yoga Day on Tuesday, various experts have highlighted that the key to make yoga have an useful and an everlasting impact on one’s body is to have a disciplined approach in its practice and starting it early than in the later years. 

Taking a cue from this and to imbibe it as a habit among city’s youth, the Directorate of Aayush under the Department of Health and Family Welfare (DHF&W), Delhi government,  have started its planning to promote and popularise yoga among the youth. Responding to a query from Millennium Post regarding the future and  long lasting steps taken to promote yoga, a senior official from Directorate of Aayush said that in collaboration with the Directorate of Education, a syllabus is being designed on the benefits of yoga and naturopathy that will be implemented across Delhi government schools.

The official also highlighted that launching 50-hour yoga practice programme is also being mulled in the medical colleges belonging to the Delhi government. “We are planning to have a 50-hour yoga session in all medical colleges that are under the Delhi government,” he said.  The official also mentioned that there are plans of launching the yoga sessions from Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College, Rohini.
