The planned airport track will connect the Ring Road near Akshardham and Bodaki, Greater Noida.
“With this expansion the commuters of Noida and Greater Noida will be able to reach Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in less than 40 minutes even during heavy traffic hours in the near future,” said a source.
The network will be developed in a joint-collaboration of Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in association and Greater Noida Authority. The extended track will have a length of 50-60 km. Meanwhile according to the sources DMIC’s prime focus is on developing Bodaki, while DMRC is emphasising to make the project convenient for the commuters.
The source further said that DMRC and Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) are working to connect the Airport Metro with east Delhi, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Noida and Greater Noida. However, the DMRC will conduct a survey to finalise the route based on the early discussions.
Meanwhile, there is no confirmation whether the new Airport Line will run parallel with the already existing Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) line.
DMIC will lay the tracks in Noida and Ghaziabad. A bridge would be constructed on the Yamuna River near Kondli village, 5km from Pari Chowk, and the track would then be connected to Badarpur Metro station, Delhi and Gurgaon.
“The project is still at a very nascent stage. The DMIC is yet to prepare the DPR. We can only give out details about the project once the DPR has been approved by the MoUD,” said a source.
The DMIC is constructing the 1,483km long corridor to connect Bodaki railway station with Jawaharlal Nehru port in Mumbai. This line would also benefit the investors as it will make the connectivity easy and fast.
